Heat-Treatment Operations for Tool Steel in Vietnam Commence
Tokyo, Japan, January 28, 2009 — Hitachi Metals, Ltd. announced today that it has commenced heat-treatment services for Vietnamese customers with the installation of a new heat-treatment furnace at its sales agency company in Vietnam. In anticipation of rising demand for tool steel in Vietnam, business operations will be expanded to steadily meet customer needs by enhancing heat-treatment service capabilities. |
1. Background
Impacted by the global economic slowdown, the demand for tool steel (molding materials) in Vietnam has entered a momentary adjustment phase. However, due to a medium- to long-term growth in consumer interest in motorcycles and electronic appliances, and the relocation of production facilities from China and other countries, local production of these products has increased and demand for tool steel is expected to steadily expand.A new heat-treatment furnace has been installed by Hitachi Metals’ sales agency company, Pro-Vision Special Steel JSC, which has commenced heat treatment services for customers mainly in the Hanoi area. In conjunction with these activities, Hitachi Metals will dispatch sales staff and technical personnel that specialize in heat treatment on behalf of Pro-Vision in an effort to vigorously support its heat-treatment services. The commencement of such services will enable a more flexible response to customer needs and shorten delivery times.
With further enhancements to heat-treatment and machining facilities being planned, Hitachi Metals will make every effort to expand business operations to steadily meet the needs of customers amid growing demand.
