Hitachi Metals Establishes Center for Machining, Sales and Marketing of Molding Materials in Tianjin, China
| Tokyo, Japan, July 24, 2006 — Hitachi Metals, Ltd. announced today plans to establish a high-grade tool steels sales and marketing branch of Hitachi Metals (Dong Guan) Specialty Steel Co., Ltd. in Tianjin, China. In addition to its existing sales and marketing offices in Dong Guan and Dalian, Hitachi Metals is establishing this new base in Tianjin in an aim to provide service closer to customers and to expand its business related to high-grade tool steels, which are used in the manufacture of molds. |
1. Background
A number of Japanese automobile manufacturers and foreign manufacturers have established operations in Tianjin, China, and the number of vehicles manufactured in the area is anticipated to grow as new operations are established there and as existing operations expand the number of vehicles they manufacture. Against this backdrop, demand for tool steels for use in molds and cutting tools is also increasing. In addition to high-grade, high-quality tool steels, customers also have greater needs for optimal material proposals and other rapid technical support issues.To meet customers' needs and to provide service closer to customers, Hitachi Metals decided to establish this new Tianjin sales and marketing branch of Hitachi Metals (Dong Guan) Specialty Steel Co., Ltd.
The Tianjin branch has cutting, milling and grinding equipment, and heat treatment will be conducted by the Tianjin Heat Treatment Center of Umetoku Shanghai Co., Ltd. , an exclusive dealer of the Hitachi Metals Group. The Tianjin branch is able to provide products and services with reliability and speed, including machining (cutting, grinding) and marketing of tool steels, as well as technical support, which will give them a comprehensive structure in Tianjin.
Hitachi Metals established Hitachi Metals (Dong Guan) Specialty Steel Co., Ltd. in southern China (Dong Guan), which began providing tool steels from March 2005. Subsequently, the Dalian branch of Hitachi Metals (Dong Guan) Specialty Steel Co., Ltd. was established in northern China (Dalian), and commenced sales operations from December 2005. Moreover, Hitachi Metals has constructed a network of local partners in eastern China (Shanghai) in machining, heat treatment and marketing operations, working actively to develop a marketing network close to the operations of customers. Adding this new branch in Tianjin will further enhance Hitachi Metals tool steel marketing activities to satisfy the needs of customers in China.
