Hitachi Cable Solution Now Rated "Avaya Compliant"

*Hitachi Cable has announced the end of sale for WirelessIP3000E and WirelessIP5000E-A.

  • Hitachi Cable WirelessIP phones are compatible with key Avaya IP telephony solutions
  • Helps businesses like SmartWAVE Technologies provide premier wireless applications to their customers

Hitachi Cable America, Inc., a provider of advanced information and telecommunication components and systems, today announced that the Hitachi Cable WirelessIP3000 and WirelessIP5000 phones are compliant with a voice solution for small businesses and branch offices from Avaya (NYSE:AV), a leading global provider of business communications applications, systems and services. The Hitachi Cable's easy-to-use WirelessIP phones provide roaming freedom for voice over IP (VoIP) environments, and help businesses improve employee connectivity.

Hitachi Cable WiFi phones have now completed compliance testing with Avaya's Quick Edition 3.1.1, an innovative Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)-based peer to peer solution that is ideal for retail outlets, doctor's offices, and other small sites. The Avaya Quick Edition solution eliminates the need for a centralized voice server or switching unit. With the compatibility of Hitachi Cable wireless office phones and Avaya Quick Edition, smaller companies and branch offices can improve business communications by reaching employees wherever they may be in or around the premises, minimizing their dependence on cell phones and reducing related expenses.

Avaya Quick Edition is the third Avaya IP telephony solution Hitachi Cable has achieved compliance with this year. Hitachi Cable WirelessIP phones have also successfully tested with Avaya Communication Manager IP telephony software and with the Avaya SIP Enablement Server, a routing platform that integrates telephony and application services.

"Compliance testing allows us to demonstrate the interoperability of our standards-based wireless phones with leading Avaya solutions," commented Louis Marra, senior vice president of Hitachi Cable America Inc. "Formal testing with Avaya products gives our customers the confidence to choose the best products for a multi-vendor network solution tailored for their wireless voice requirements."

One of the companies leveraging the interoperability of Hitachi Cable solutions is SmartWAVE Technologies, a leading wireless-focused systems integrator specializing in the planning, design, and integration of wireless networks. "We are finding that Hitachi Cable's WirelessIP phones are ideal for many businesses including grade schools and even automobile dealerships," said Phil Slaughter, chief operating officer of SmartWAVE Technologies. "Hitachi Cable's interoperability testing with Avaya is an additional selling point, as formalized interoperability testing gives our customers the extra assurance in our best-in-class engineered solutions."

Hitachi Cable is a member of the Avaya DeveloperConnection Program - an initiative to develop, market and sell innovative third-party products that interoperate with Avaya technology and extend the value of a company's investment in its network.

As a gold-level member of the program, Hitachi Cable is eligible to submit products for compatibility testing by the Avaya Solution Interoperability and Test Lab in Lincroft, N.J. There a team of Avaya engineers develops a comprehensive test plan for each application to verify whether it is Avaya compliant. Doing so ensures businesses can confidently add best-in-class capabilities to their network without having to replace their existing infrastructure - speeding deployment of new applications and reducing both network complexity and implementation costs.

"By offering compliance testing to the many innovative companies like Hitachi Cable, who are members of our DeveloperConnection program, Avaya promotes fully interoperable solutions that help businesses unleash powerful new possibilities," said Eric Rossman, vice president, developer relations and technical alliances, Avaya. "They are able to use Intelligent Communications to connect employees and customers to information from wherever they are, over whatever device they have available - getting more out of their multivendor network and delivering new value to their bottom line."
