Hitachi Cables Concludes Agency Agreement with Hitachi Infonet for Sales of AquaVocal All-in-One IP-PBX and wireless IP phone, "WirelessIP5000"
*All products of AquaVocal series will end sales on June 30th of 2009.
*Hitachi Cable has announced the end of sale for WirelessIP3000E and WirelessIP5000E-A.
Hitachi Cable, Ltd. has signed an agency contract with Hitachi Infonet Co., Ltd. (head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; presdient: Tsutomu Yamamoto) for sales of AquaVocal all-in-one IP-PBX*1 and wireless IP phone, "WirelessIP5000".
As data communication networks become less costly and more powerful, IP telephony(VoIP: Voice over Internet Protocol), or voice communications based on Internet technology, is growing increasingly popular. IP phones reduce both communication costs and the cost of cabling work required when employees are reassigned or office layouts are changed. However, most IP-PBX products are designed for large offices of 500 to 1,000 users. Up to now, the deployment of IP phones in small and mid-sized offices has generally imposed major financial burdens, due to large initial costs and amortization costs.
As a solution, Hitachi Cable has developed the AquaVocal all-in-one IP-PBX for small to mid-size offices of less than 200 users, launching sales in June 2004. The AquaVocal all-in-one IP-PBX series offers not just IP-PBX functions, but various gateway functions*2 , PPPoE functions*3 , a survival function that enables use of analog phones to make calls through a public telephone network in the event of a power outage, and other features. The AquaVocal system permits a switch to IP phones with minimal investment.
Hitachi Cable also markets the WirelessIP5000 ,wireless IP phone, which meets the growing demand for IP phone connections via wireless LAN. The phone supports SIP (Session Initiation Protocol), a VoIP communication protocol fast becoming a de facto standard in Japan, and is capable of connecting to SIP servers from multiple vendors.
Hitachi Cable has primarily sold VoIP-related products through agencies and other sales agents and retailers, and is striving to expand its sales network. As part of its sales expansion efforts, Hitachi Cable has recently concluded an agency agreement with Hitachi Infonet Co., Ltd. for sales of AquaVocal and WirelessIP5000.
A marketer of business phone systems, Hitachi Infonet boasts a robust sales network, including affiliated retailers. By enrolling Hitachi Infonet as a sales agent for AquaVocal and WirelessIP5000, Hitachi Cable seeks to expand its sales force for VoIP-related products.
Hitachi Cable plans to expand the market share of its VoIP-related products by boosting its sales capabilities, by increasing the number of sales agents and retailers, and by promoting links to various software and applications.
