Hitachi Cable has enters distribution agreement with Uniadex, Ltd., for the distribution of its WirelessIP5000, wireless IP phone

*Hitachi Cable has announced the end of sale for WirelessIP3000E and WirelessIP5000E-A.

Hitachi Cable, Ltd., recently announced a distribution agreement with Uniadex, Ltd., (Headquarters: Koto-ku, Tokyo; President: Tsutomu Takahashi; referred to as "Uniadex," hereafter) to distribute Hitachi Cable's WirelessIP5000, wireless IP phone. Hitachi Cable expects this agreement to strengthen the domestic sales network for the WirelessIP5000.

Falling prices and the advancing capabilities of data communication networks have led to rapid growth in IP telephony services, which implement voice communication using the Internet technology known as VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol). Many companies have introduced wireless LAN to create office environments referred to as the untethered office in which individuals are not assigned specific seats. The flexibility in office layout made possible by wireless LANs reduce wiring costs traditionally associated with changes in office layout. Given these trends, demand has grown for a solution that permits use of wireless IP phones in a wireless LAN environment.

To meet these needs, Hitachi Cable offers WirelessIP5000, an open-architecture IP phone. WirelessIP5000 is compatible with SIP (Session Initiation Protocol), fast becoming a standard protocol for VoIP communications in Japan. WirelessIP5000 is also capable of connecting to SIP servers provided by a wide range of manufacturers, rather than just one proprietary SIP server type. To make it even easier for customers to introduce WirelessIP5000, Hitachi Cable is expanding partnerships with a range of telecommunications carriers that provide IP centrex services, as well as manufacturers of SIP servers.

Hitachi Cable recently performed interconnectivity tests between WirelessIP5000 and the NX-E1000 SIP server (manufactured by NextGen, Inc. and distributed by Uniadex) that confirmed their compatibility. Based on this result, WirelessIP5000 is now listed as a terminal compatible with the Uniadex"AiriP" *1 wireless solution based on mobility terminals. Hitachi Cable and Uniadex have also entered into an agreement to distribute WirelessIP5000. Hitachi Cable expects the addition of Uniadex to its growing fold of, sales partners to further strengthen its domestic sales network for WirelessIP5000.

Hitachi Cable will continue to form additional sales partnerships in a bid to continue expanding its share of WirelessIP5000 in the market of SIP compatible wireless IP phones.
