Marketing launched for Wireless IP5000 control software

*Hitachi Cable has announced the end of sale for WirelessIP3000E and WirelessIP5000E-A.

Hitachi Cable, Ltd. has begun marketing Wireless IP5000 Manager and Wireless IP5000 USB Manager, both control software for wireless IP telephone Wireless IP5000.

IP telephony, which permits telephone use based on an Internet technology known as VoIP (Voice over IP), is receiving much interest in the current climate of lowered costs and increased functionality of communication networks. Allied to this is the popularity of layout-free offices, where anyone can use any desk available, and of the introduction of wireless LAN aimed at reducing wiring cost arising from layout changes. Cutting more cables away, it is therefore no surprise that VoWLAN (Voice over Wireless LAN) is receiving much attention, since it enables VoIP in a wireless LAN environment.

In response to such needs, in April 2004 we began marketing wireless IP telephone Wireless IP5000, the uptake of which has been strong.

And now, good news for those intent on introducing, or already posses Wireless IP5000-lower your administration workload with our integrated control software-Wireless IP5000 Manager.

This multi-function software features automatic generation of the configuration files needed when introducing Wireless IP5000-as well as updating of the firmware of Wireless IP5000 wirelessly (*1), an NTP server function (*2), and a Syslog server function (for control of Wireless IP5000 terminals), which combined allows the user to integrally control all processes: from the introduction of terminals to their operation through servers.

Along with the above, we are also marketing Wireless IP5000 USB Manager, which, once installed on a user PC, permits editing and controlling address books contained in a Wireless IP5000 terminal, and updating the firmware via a terminal of the user PC connected with the enclosed USB cable. The software also enables power supply to PC terminals through the USB cable.

Overall, this software suite will reduce the administration work on both administrator and user sides for all tasks related to introduction and operation, which enhances the convenience of Wireless IP5000.

*1 Firmware is a program designed for basic control of hardware incorporated in parent hardware.
*2 NTP (Network Time Protocol) is a protocol that adjusts terminal clocks via a network.
