Hitachi Cable Enters into Alliance with Nissho Electronics for Sales of ''WirelessIP5000'' Phones
-Linked with SIP Servers of Zultys Technologies(USA)-

*Hitachi Cable has announced the end of sale for WirelessIP3000E and WirelessIP5000E-A.

Hitachi Cable has concluded an agency agreement with Nissho Electronics Corporation (President: Takao Tsuji; Headquarters: Tsukiji, Chuo-ku, Tokyo; hereinafter referred to as ''Nissho Electronics'') for sales of its ''WirelessIP5000'' phones. WirelessIP5000 supports SIP (Session Initiation Protocol). Through this alliance, we intend to further reinforce the distribution channels of WirelessIP5000 in Japan.

Along with the increased sophistication, functionality and lower prices of data communications networks, there has been rapid growth in popularity of IP phones, which use Internet technology called VoIP (Voice over IP) to provide voice communications. In addition, companies are increasingly adopting wireless LAN for the purpose of creating a flexible-layout office environment with no fixed desks, or of reducing wiring costs incurred by layout changes. Under such circumstances, a great deal of attention is being focused on VoWLAN (Voice over Wireless LAN), which provides VoIP in a wireless LAN environment.

In Japan, SIP is becoming a standard protocol for VoIP communications, but there is some difference in the implementation of SIP among communications service providers and IP server vendors. In April 2004, Hitachi Cable launched sales of WirelessIP5000, an open-style wireless IP phone that provides access to several vendors' SIP servers. At the same time, we have been validating interconnection with service providers and server vendors.

Recently, in collaboration with Nissho Electronics, we tested compatibility between WirelessIP5000 and SIP servers from Zultys Technologies, a US vendor. Nissho Electronics is the exclusive agent of Zultys Technologies in Japan. After verifying a successful interconnection, we concluded an agency agreement with Nissho Electronics as a sales partner for WirelessIP5000.

By further reinforcing sales of WirelessIP5000, we intend to increase our market share in SIP-enabled wireless IP phones. The sale of VoIP business for FY2005 is expected to be 2 billion yen.
