- 2.5Gbit/s SFP Optical Transceivers for Extended Operating Temperature Range -
Hitachi Cable, Ltd., a global leader of optical transceiver products for the SONET/SDH, Gigabit Ethernet and Storage markets, today announced that it has enhanced its family of hot-pluggable transceivers with the introduction of the Extended-Temperature SFP SONET OC 48 LR-2, with digital diagnostic functions, bringing the company to a higher level in the high-end markets. The new device completes the line of Extended-temperature SFP OC-48 transceivers that includes SR (2Km) and IR (15 Km) as well.
Hitachi Cable started production of SFP transceivers in 2001, which operating temperature range is from -5 to +70 degrees Celsius. Since then, Hitachi Cable has been selling its devices for use in SONET, Router and Ethernet Switch applications. Through the years, Hitachi Cable's know-how and expertise have progressed and the new Extended-temperature SFP OC-48 is the final result of constant efforts to satisfy customers' requirements for miniaturization, high-speed, high port density and higher operating temperatures.
The Extended-Temperature SFP OC-48 transceiver is MSA compliant and supports SONET/SDH long reach applications up to 80 Km with an extended operating temperature range between -5 and 85 degrees Celsius, and is suitable for high port density communication equipment.
The newly developed Extended-Temperature transceiver utilizes Hitachi Cable's high technology in the Circuit design and the internal structure has been optimized to provide a superior heat radiation. Finally, it provides the lowest power consumption in the market utilizing proprietary ASIC designs.
Clean waveforms and low path penalty assure highly reliable optical transmission at all operating temperatures.
