Leadframe Operations to be Transferred to Consolidated Subsidiary
Hitachi Cable, Ltd. ( hereinafter "the Company") will transfer all its domestic leadframe operations to Hitachi Cable Precision Co., Ltd. (hereinafter "Hitachi Cable Precision"), a consolidated subsidiary of the Company, on October 1, 2003.
The Company established Hitachi Cable Precision in December 2000 and transferred part of its leadframe manufacturing, including leadframes for transistors, to this subsidiary. The Company has since made every effort to nurture Hitachi Cable Precision into the Company's second-largest domestic leadframe production base following the Company's Densen Works (at Hitachi City, Ibaraki Prefecture). The fruits of this effort can be seen in the aquisition of ISO9001 certification and the realization of well-established systems to offer higher quality, faster delivery, and lower prices to a greater number of satisfied customers.
The Company has decided that to improve the management efficiency of leadframe operations further, all domestic leadframe business (including design, manufacturing, and sales) of the Company will be transferred to Hitachi Cable Precision, which will be considered the leading all-round leadframe manufacturer of the Hitachi Cable Group. The transfer process will begin in late July and be completed by October 1.
Hitachi Cable Precision hereafter will supervise the leadframe business of the Group companies at home and abroad, and integrally coordinate the business activities of said companies, including Hitachi Cable (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. (Singapore), Hitachi Cable PS Techno (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. (Malaysia), and Hitachi Cable Philippines, Inc. (Philippines), to expand leadframe business worldwide. The Company will focus on specialty products, including 2-metal TAB tape *1 and COF *2, and help strengthen the semiconductor packaging materials business of the entire Group.
