Hitachi Cable and EHC Japan Tie up on Thermoplastic Handrail Business
Hitachi Cable ,Ltd. (hereafter Hitachi Cable) and EHC Japan K. K. (hereafter EHC Japan, headquartered in Tsuzuki-ku, Yokohama, Representative Director: Patrick Robert Bothwell) a Japanese subsidiary of Escalator Handrail Company Inc.(hereafter EHC, the world's leading manufacturer of escalator handrails, headquartered in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, President: Mr. Ronald Harold Ball) have reached mutual agreement on their business tie-up in the field of thermoplastic handrails (NT2000) escalators and moving walks.
NT2000, the world's first thermoplastic handrail developed by EHC, has an extremely high gloss rate and is resistant to dirt making it easy to clean. From a logistics standpoint, the fact that NT2000 can be stocked on reels will allow requests from customers for short delivery to be easily met.
Currently EHC Japan imports NT2000 handrails on reels from its parent company, EHC, and splices to length as per customers' orders at their facility in Yokohama. Hitachi Cable has been granted by EHC Japan a license for domestic Sales & Distribution and NT2000 Factory Splicing. Hitachi Cable will purchase NT2000 handrails on reels from EHC Japan and its subsidiary Tohoku Rubber Co., Ltd, (President:Tadamitsu Hashimoto) will splice to length per customers' orders. By adding NT2000 to its product line-up, Hitachi Cable will be able to meet their customers' various needs.
Hitachi cable will sell thermoplastic handrails in March 2003, and sales are targeted at JPY 300,000,000 in fiscal 2005(Apr.1-Mar.31).
