Tsuchiura Works has attained ISO 14001 certification

Our Tsuchiura Works (General Manager: Board Director, Hiroshi Abe Kidamari-cho 3550, Tsuchiura-Shi, Ibaragi Prefecture) was awarded the ISO 14001 Certification by Japan Environmental Certification Organization Ltd. (JACO).

ISO 14001, an international standard established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) concerning environmental management systems, requires the setup an environmental management system aimed at continually promoting environmental improvements.

Tsuchiura Works is the works used exclusively to produce the copper for our copper division, from the casting of oxygen free copper, for the continuous manufacture of copper tubes, copper strips and copper used for electrical use to other areas such as the manufacture of heat exchange application system products and super conductors. Also included under the certification are Tsuchiura Works and our related company, Hitachi Copper Product, Ltd., 2 Research Laboratories: the System Material Research Laboratory & the Advanced Research Center.

We have 6 factories within Ibaraki Prefecture, and as the 5 located in Hitachi City, Ibaraki Prefecture: Toyoura Works, Densen Works, Hitaka Works, Takasago Works and Minato Works have already been granted the ISO14001, the attainment this time by the Tsuchiura Works means that all our main business establishments, (excluding the head office, branch offices and some branch factories) have ISO14001 certification.

As preserving the environment is one of our enterprise managements highest priorities, we took actions to improve the environment and with practically effective steps, tackled the attainment of the ISO14001award. With the acquirement this time by Tsuchiura Works, the establishment and application of all current international environmental management systems have been recognized in nearly all our manufacturing departments. Also as an enterprise that wishes to develop alongside society, we have actively reduced energy, cut down omissions, promoted recycling and expanded our range of environmentally friendly products to help prevent global warming. We are positively tackling these environmental issues & truly want to contribute to the preservation of the worlds environment.

Before Tsuchiura Works attained the ISO14001, it was granted the ISO9001 from Lloyds Register Quality Assurance (LRQA) in December 1998. So since 1998 Tsuchiura Works was simultaneously awarded two essential ISO related quality and environment awards.
