After investigating possibilities for production base sites in the Philippines, we decided to make a full 100% investment and create a subsidiary under the name - 'Hitachi Cable Philippines, Inc.' - based in the Lima Technology Center, Lipa City, Batangas.(The chosen area is situated 65 km's south of Manila). In order for us to be able to start production inside this export economic zone we had to seek approval from P E Z A - (Philippine Economic Zone Authority). They dually granted us permission to start preparing for production this coming autumn. The main motive behind establishing this site was to answer the requests of Japanese car and electronics makers based in the Philippines, who expressed a strong interest in us having such a centre there.
'Hitachi Cable Philippines, Inc.' plans to produce automotive wire, electronic wire and cables, rubber rollers for OA appliances, automotive brake hoses and lead frames for use in power IC's. Now we are estimating that the first year's sales will amount to approximately a billion Yen.
